Crochet: Learn how to make a Square and Dot Stitch - Crochet Cowel

Square and Dot stitch - The Pattern First of all you'll need to contrasting yarn colours (I made my curtain using light blue and dark blue, and I'm using pink and white for the purse). The more the colours contrast, the more your dots will show up! Things you'll need: Your two different coloured yarns A 4mm crochet hook (or a suitable size crochet hook for your chosen yarn) Scissors A darning needle to weave in loose ends I'll give you the instructions on how to make a sample sized piece; you'll only then need to scale up to make a longer chain for the desired length of your piece of work. Firstly start off by making a chain of 20 in the colour yarn you'd like your dots to be (white in this example). Row 1: 1 SC into the second ch from hook, ch2, sk 2 chs on the row and 1SC into the 3rd ch. Repeat the pattern of ch2, sk2, 1SC until the end of the row. Join your second colour yarn on the last SC of this row. Row 2: in your second colour yarn (pink in this example) ch4, put 2 DCs into the gap (not into a stitch) made by your previous row. * Ch1. Make 3 DCs into the next gap. * Repeat from * to * until the end of the row. Join the first yarn back on with the last DC of the row. Row 3: ch3, 1 SC into the gap made by the ch1 from the previous row. Ch2, sk2 1 SC into the gap. Repeat the pattern of ch2, sk2, 1SC until the end of the row. Join your second colour yarn on the last SC of this row. The last SC will go into the top of the ch3 from the previous row. Remember to fasten your yarn as you go along. Repeat rows 2 & 3 until the desired length! Once your work is at the desired height, fasten off your last row and weave in all loose ends throughout your work. Check out my website http://www.cupofcrochet.com for more crochet treats :-) Cup of Crochet x Music by J Gould 2014
